Притяжательные местоимения в английском языке отражают связь с предметами или их принадлежность к кому-либо или чему-либо, и отвечают на вопрос «Чей? Чья? Чьи?» (whose?): My book is yellow and his is black — Моя книга — желтая, а его — черная. Possessive Pronouns

К Possessive Pronouns относятся такие слова: my, his, your, her, our, its, their, yours, mine, his, ours, hers, theirs. Каждому личному местоимению соответствует притяжательное, у которых имеются две формы. Pronouns первой формы — основной или присоединяемой в предложении стоят перед существительным и выполняют функцию определения: My dog is 7 years old — Моему псу 7 лет .

Местоимения второй формы — абсолютной наделены полномочиями заменять само существительное: What do cats like to drink? — Mine likes milk. — Что пьют коты? — Моему нравится молоко . И в предложении могут выполнять роль дополнения, подлежащего или именной части сказуемого.

В случае если перед словом находятся другие определения, то Possessive Pronoun займет позицию перед ним: His talkative son (Его болтливый сын). Следует обратить внимание, что в таких случаях артикль не используется, так как его заменяет местоимение. Для наглядности изучите таблицу с переводом:

Как видите, английские Possessive Pronouns даже легче, чем русском. Так некоторые их формы совпадаю и не склоняются. Разобраться с употреблением всех этих форм вам помогут специальные практические упражнения, которые вы сможете скачать чуть ниже.

Притяжательные местоимения в русском и английском

По сравнению с русским языком, где есть местоимение «свой », которое употребляется со всеми лицами, притяжательные местоимения в английском языке используются строго в соответствии с личными. Также обратите внимание на то, что «its » это не ошибка без апострофа. Слово «it’s » употребляется совершенно в другом значении.

Притяжательные местоимения в английском языке часто используются там, где в нашей речи они по сути отсутствуют, но имеются ввиду: He put his hand into his basket — Он засунул руку в корзину . В английском Possessive Pronouns употребляются намного чаще и являются неотъемлемой частью при существительных, которые обозначают родственников, предметы одежды и части тела.
